Alumni of the Department

Developing an active and engaged alumni network always empowers both the Institute and the students who are prime stakeholders of the Institute. From the very beginning, alumni of Chemical Engineering Department (and the former Applied Chemistry Department) are its eternal legacy and strongest voice. At the same time joining to the Alumni Association is one of the easiest ways to reconnect, give back to the Alma Mater, and serve as a catalyst for future development.
Registered in the year 2001, Calcutta University Chemical Engineering Alumni Association (CUChEAA) creates and maintains a life-long linking between the Department and its alumni. Finding new ways to build an engaged membership base is an integral task of the Association. Since its inception, the association has come a long way and many chapters are also started functioning.
Alumni whether Academicians, Researchers, Operational and Management Experts of Industries, Policymakers, Entrepreneurs, or Leaders, have assisted to outline our Country's goal. Even they are contributing to every nook and corner of the World. Alumni Association's sincere effort is to maintain continuous liaison between these Excellency and the Alma mater over the years, continues to seek innovative ways to serve the Department by providing educational, professional and social opportunities.

With the generous help and sincere cooperation from the alumni, Association has been involved in sponsoring awards to meritorious students through a number of Fellowship funds and providing financial aids for better placements of the students in jobs and higher studies.
Arranging of In-plant training, Plant visit and Seminar/ Workshops participations by students are practiced every year continuously with the help of alumni. Development of laboratories including computers with design software, providing suggestions on structuring Syllabi and developing Curriculum etc., in the Department, are also regular activities of the Association.
In collaboration with volunteer Executive Committee, the Alumni Association works to connect alumni, in and out, for the support of students and employed to build an unforgettable Institute-Industry relation through a diversity of events, programmings and services. Vision and Priorities of the mission of Alumni Association is to foster strong bonds between alumni, students and the Departmental teachers, to keep alumni informed, and create a network enabling them to remain engaged with their alma mater and help outline its future through the Association's programmes and services.

Students with their all-time favourite and beloved teacher Prof. Bibhuti Ranjan Saha (well-known as BRS).

For developing a bond between alumni and students (now we always have four B. Tech and two M. Tech batches of students during odd and even Semesters) different programs are organized at regular intervals. Alumni, settled in different cities of India and other countries are very often visit the Department for sharing their experiences.
