    about

During 1970's, initiatives were taken to form a Registered body of the Alumni from the then Department of Applied Chemistry. Distinguished teachers and alumni took the responsibility to form organizations like Applied Chemistry Alumni Association, Chemical Engineering Alumni Association etc. The bodies were formed, operated mainly during organization of Alumni Meet or Reunion. Unfortunately, no one was Registered under the Societies Registration Act. Again, during 1990's attempt were made but most of the times interest were missing just after completion of Alumni Meet of the year.
It was the very beginning of 2K, Prof. Parthasarathi Ray attempted further to form a Registered body of the Association. At this time Prof. Ray got whole hearted support from senior alumnus like Prof. Niras Kumar Bose, Prof. Basudeb Barman, Dr. Saral Kumar Ghosh, Prof. Bibhuti Bhushan Paira, Prof. Parameswar De. A few junior (at that time) alumni like Mr. Gautom Mitra, Mr. Dipankar Chakrabarti, Dr. Asim Kumar De put their services to draft Objectives and Memorandum of Association. And ultimately, the Calcutta University Chemical Engineering Alumni Association got Registration under West Bengal Societies Registration Act 1961 on 7th December 2001 (Registration Number S/1L/6821 of 2001 - 2002), has been functioning in the Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Calcutta to fulfill the objectives laid down in its Memorandum of Association. Later on, after online modification by the Society of Registrar, the Association has been given a new Registration No.SO106821 dated 21.01.2019.
